Perception Workshops
The Perception Workshops at O’Hanlon welcome all artists and the art-curious. Rather than focusing on formal principles or strict rules, these workshops emphasize curiosity, exploration, and creative play. They spark imagination by encouraging learning through doing, observation, acceptance, and practice. Participants are supported in taking risks, experimenting freely, and developing their own visual language in an open, encouraging environment.
Each session begins with a simple prompt or exercise. From there, participants may build on their initial ideas or take them in entirely new directions. At the end, the group comes together to share discoveries through looking, reflection, and discussion, celebrating the process as much as the result.
Most materials are provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own.

LOVING THE SATURDAY WORKSHOP
The long-running Visual Perception Workshop is at the heart of O’Hanlon Center. Recently we asked workshop participants for their thoughts.
I love doing art with friends…and then sharing it!
I love that it is a drop-in class and
I don’t have to sign up ahead of time.
I like that I don’t have to know how to do art…
It’s about our own creativity.
It is so much fun.
I love the creative atmosphere. It breeds excitement and enjoyment of the process.

I look forward to stepping into another time and place. It is a magical experience to visit this special piece of land at the foot of Mt Tam.
Being with people who care about art and artists is something I find worthwhile. I feel lucky to have discovered this class. It informs me well beyond 4 hours on Saturday.
This Saturday workshop serves as a tool to open up all of my senses and I come alive.
The setting is gorgeous and serene.
I love Saturday class. I wouldn’t think of missing it. I come every Saturday, and have for years and years.
