For this special performance, the group will present a transcendent Afro-fusion trio featuring Piwai on vocals, mbira, and percussion, Joan Torres on double-fret bass, and Miracle on keys. This intimate configuration distills the collective’s expansive sound into a focused, ethereal experience—lush, rhythmic, and deeply immersive.

Piwai & Mystic Gong is an Afro-jazz fusion ensemble led by Zimbabwean vocalist, mbira player, and percussionist Piwai, whose hypnotic sound has been described as spiritual nirvana. Blending jazz, reggae, folk, and Southern African rhythms, Piwai creates trance-like, soul-centered performances that invite deep listening and connection.

Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Piwai has collaborated with Grammy-winning artist Fantastic Negrito on the album Last Days of Oakland.
