Painting with Sunlight: A Cyanotype Workshop

September 12 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
$80.00 – $100.00

Painting with Sunlight: A Cyanotype Workshop with Naomi Tamura and Jackie La Lanne

Discover the beauty and versatility of cyanotype, an early photographic process that uses the sun’s UV light to create luminous cobalt-blue images. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the basics of the process, explore how contemporary and historical artists have incorporated cyanotype into their practices, and create your own prints on a variety of surfaces, not just paper. First developed in 1842, cyanotype has been used by artists, botanists, and architects for nearly two centuries. Through playful experimentation with objects, natural materials, and light, participants will discover the surprising possibilities of this accessible and distinctive medium. No previous experience is necessary; all are welcome. What to bring: Lunch, water bottle, sketchbook/notebook, pen/pencil, and your curiosity! Materials Fee: $20
