Encounter with Matisse: Paintings and Collages
Un atelier d’art en français
Join French native speaker and artist Pascale Hery in this workshop and learn to make paintings and collages inspired by Matisse’s paper cut-outs. The workshop will be facilitated in French.
Pascale will introduce some of Matisse’s most celebrated works and explain the creative process behind his iconic cut-outs. She will guide participants through designing a composition, creating flowing organic shapes, using rollers to achieve smooth, even colour, and assembling painted elements into a vibrant collage.
A vocabulary list related to the workshop will be provided to support participants, and everyone will be encouraged to communicate in French throughout the session at their own level. No previous art experience is required. French learners and fluent speakers of all levels are welcome.
Time: 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. All Materials provided.

About Pascale Hery
I am a French native speaker and an artist. I have been living in Marin for over 30 years. After working in Paris for animated TV series and in San Rafael for film Visual Effects, I became a sub at the Lycée Français. I have been teaching visual arts and the French language in private for many years, in an attempt to share my love for them!
