O’Hanlon: Living the spirit of a “Third Place” since 1969
“Long before urban sociologist Ray Oldenburg popularized the concept of “the Third Place” making it part of 2025’s cultural vocabulary, O’Hanlon Center for the Arts has been undeniably living that idea since 1969.
The first place is home, the second place is work and the Third Place is a community’s nurturing ground, open for all to meet freely and informally, inviting conversation, sharing, and connection outside the pressures of daily life. More importantly is where ideas spark and community grows… That has always been the spirit of O’Hanlon for nearly 60 years
From lively conversations in the gallery to shared silence in our loft workshops, from art openings to volunteer mornings weeding in the gardens—O’Hanlon has long been a place where belonging feels effortless and creativity feels contagious.
Now more than ever, we invite you to help keep this spirit alive. Your donation—of any size—helps sustain O’Hanlon as the vibrant, welcoming “Third Place” our community cherishes: a sanctuary for art, connection, friendship and the joy of being together.
Let us treasure what we’ve built and with your help we will keep that light glowing for generations to come.”

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our End of the Year Party and Fundraiser on December 13.
Your presence, generosity, and shared spirit made the evening truly meaningful. It was a joy to celebrate together and to witness firsthand the impact of supporting this special Third Place. We are deeply grateful for each of you and look forward to continuing this work together in the year ahead.
