Message from Peller Marion, Acting Board President: Dear Members, we regret to inform you that Board President Blair Campbell will be taking a temporary leave of absence to focus on family health concerns.  In her absence, Peller Marion has agreed to act in that role.  While Blair certainly would appreciate all your kind words, thoughts, and support, she asks at this time to have some privacy.  She plans on returning to the Board Presidency role in January 2013.

2013 Marin Open Studios at OHCA: Open studios was a great success this year and a lot of fun for those who participated.  We had about 100 visitors and are looking forward to doing it again next year and having a lot more artists participate. If you are interested in participating, either by showing your work or helping to organize, we need to hear from you now. This is, perhaps, a time to re-design and expand the next open-studio. Please contact either Gail Robertson at gailytr@aol.com or Leslie Lakes at lesdricks@gmail.com.

Mail Chimp In the near future, Diorama will be delivered only to our MailChimp subscribers. MailChimp is a great tool that protects privacy and enables program registration online. Please click here: http://eepurl.com/hiW1M to ensure that you’re still opted into our mailing list.

October in the O’Hanlon Gallery: “Marge Rector: The Free Flow Series” If you are a fan of classic, authentic modernism, you will have an opportunity to view a robust exhibit of paintings by Marge Rector, a Sausalito-based artist at O’Hanlon Center for the Arts in Mill Valley. Marge is hot right now. At 80 something, she has been in several gallery exhibits in the last year and won three juried shows from Pasadena to New York. Creating and painting 4 hours a day, she has produced an admirable collection of art that has an almost OP Art effect on the admiring retina. Her Free Flow Series will be the highlight at O’Hanlon Center. This diverse collection displays the artist’s fervor for abstract expressionism; think Diebenkorn, de Kooning and Picasso combined with the disciplined simplicity of Agnes Martin.

Marge Rector trained originally at Texas Tech University in graphic arts. Once she abstracted her art, there was no going back. Her Free Flow Series at O’Hanlon will show the observer an artist whose creative flux is still in motion. To see the breadth of her work, go to www.margerectorart.com.

Also on Exhibit: “Focus on Perception” by Carolyn Planakis  Also throughout October, O’Hanlon’s Loft Gallery will feature new works by Carolyn Planakis.  Carolyn says, “The works on paper and paintings in this exhibit have been created at the O’Hanlon Center in the past two years. They are a very personal statement of my involvement with Art Perception workshops for over 40 years. Seeing so many of my works together in this special environment reinforces my feeling about the importance of PROCESS, which is always continuing…. I am excited to share mine with you.”

We Thank Our Donors! O’Hanlon recently received tax-deductible gifts from Sonja Bakalyar, Ann Fricker, Mill Valley Market, Jessica O’Dwyer, Cayen Robertson, Dorothy Salant, and Virginia Stella.
