Monochromatic
In-Person Gallery Show
O’Hanlon Center for the Arts
Juried by Suzanne Gray and Chandler Simpson
Exhibition dates: November 20 – December 18, 2025
Postcard artwork: Christine So, Tidal
DESCRIPTION
How expressive can you be using a single base hue—exploring all its shades, tones, and tints?
Monochromatic color schemes are created from one base hue, expanded through variations in lightness and saturation. Within a single color family, endless possibilities emerge: in the blue spectrum—Azure, Cobalt, Cerulean, Ultramarine; in reds—Garnet, Crimson, Rose.
This exhibition invites artists to dive deep into the emotional and visual range of a single hue. From subtle variations to bold intensity, explore how color alone can shape mood, movement, and meaning.
For inspiration, look to artists who have masterfully explored monochrome: Agnes Martin, Mark Rothko, Gerhard Richter and Fan Ho (Photography).
