With this exhibition, we explore the centuries-old tradition of the self-portrait. The image of self has never been so prevalent as in our current social media saturated society.
Most recently during our time of “Shelter in Place” we have had an opportunity to look inward more than ever. We have explored our identities, our passions, our hobbies, places we love, our dreams, and our daily lives. We’d like to show others who we are now.
ANN O’HANLON nobody paints pictures about anything but themselves
CORINTHIANS For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known
AGNES VARDA The tool of every self-portrait is the mirror. You see yourself in it. Turn it the other way, and you see the world
JIMMY DURANTE My nose isn’t big. I just happen to have a very small head
NIKOS GYFTAKIS The most difficult part is to be objective and reveal sides of yourself that may be well-hidden. The most rewarding part is to succeed in doing it
