SUMMARY:Monoprinting
DESCRIPTION:WE ARE OFFERING THIS WORKSHOP TWICE A MONTH \nMonoprinting is a playful\, exploratory process requiring neither a press nor a background in art \nOn a plate of gel or plexiglass\, images are made with paint\, rollers\, sponges\, netting\, leaves or anything else which might create an interesting pattern. The focus is not upon the finished work but upon the experience of discovery and making art. \nIn the workshop\, after two or three hours\, the group gathers to discuss what has been created.  The purpose of the discussion is to help each person recognize the beauty in their work. Or\, in the words of Ann O’Hanlon\, our purpose is “to look upon a seemingly random work of our own with interest” and with “the same fulfillment… experienced on an unknown wilderness trail.” \nFirst and Third Sundays\, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM\n$60 | $50 OHCA members + $10 materials fee paid to facilitator on day of workshop \n6 people MAX \nART DETAIL: JANET GREENWOOD\n \n\nAbout Candis Cousins \nCandis Cousins first came to the Center in 1972. Ann O’Hanlon was alive and at that time the Center was called ‘Sight and Insight.’ On Candis’ first day\, Ann’s suggestion for working was this: “Every decision you make\, try to make the wrong decision.” \nIn 2002\, Candis returned to OHCA to join the mono printing group led by Cayen Robertson and Karen Cox. In her own work\, Candis tries to keep moving forward without a plan\, just to see what comes. \n  \n“It is such an invigorating\, soul-finding experience to facilitate this workshop. A love-fest\, a laugh-fest on the high seas of creativity!” \n– Candis \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n OHCA Thanksgiving Break – November 26\, 27\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n $50.00 – $60.00Price range: $50.00 through $60.00 \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n	\n \n \n \n Member/Non-Member\n \n Choose an optionNon-memberOHCA MemberClear \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n	\n Monoprint | 2026 quantity\n	\n	\n\n	Add to cart

SUMMARY:Tuesday Perception
DESCRIPTION:Perception Workshops Description\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n The Perception Workshops at O’Hanlon welcome all artists and the art-curious. Rather than focusing on formal principles or strict rules\, these workshops emphasize curiosity\, exploration\, and creative play. They spark imagination by encouraging learning through doing\, observation\, acceptance\, and practice. Participants are supported in taking risks\, experimenting freely\, and developing their own visual language in an open\, encouraging environment. \nEach session begins with a simple prompt or exercise. From there\, participants may build on their initial ideas or take them in entirely new directions. At the end\, the group comes together to share discoveries through looking\, reflection\, and discussion\, celebrating the process as much as the result. \nMost materials are provided\, but participants are welcome to bring their own. \nCost: \n\n$30.00 Non-members\n$25.00 Members or Members can purchase a 10x card for $200\n$5.00 Materials fee\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n OHCA Thanksgiving Break – November 26\, 27\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n $25.00 – $30.00Price range: $25.00 through $30.00 \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n	\n \n \n \n Member/Non-Member\n \n Choose an optionNon-memberOHCA MemberClear \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n	\n Tuesday Perception Workshop 2026 quantity\n	\n	\n\n	Add to cart

SUMMARY:Based on a True Story: Developing Memories into Literature - with Bart Schneider
DESCRIPTION:Based on a True Story: Developing Memories Into Literaturewith Bart Schneider\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Bringing the tools of poetry and fiction to memoir. \n6 Wednesdays – 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM \nMany folks are drawn to the idea of writing a memoir but find the notion of composing a book-length account daunting. This class will encourage writing from personal experience in a variety of forms and lengths\, will introduce a range of narrative approaches\, and explore methods for developing a germ of memory into a substantial form. We will also consider the ethical concerns of taking liberty with “the facts” to enhance the story\, (or how much poetic license will the puritanical worm in your brain allow?) The instructor will introduce literary examples and offer prompts for in-class writing. Participants will be invited to share their in-class writing as well as their writing from home. \nIn addition to writing implements please bring memories and stories to the gathering. \nDates: \n\nOctober 21 — 11:00 AM–1:00 PM\nOctober 28 — 11:00 AM–1:00 PM\nNovember 4 — 11:00 AM–1:00 PM\nNovember 11 — 11:00 AM–1:00 PM\nNovember 18 — 11:00 AM–1:00 PM\nDecember 2 — 11:00 AM–1:00 PM\n\nFee: $210\, $175 OHCA Members \nMax 8 participants \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About Bart: \nBart Schneider is the author of six novels\, including Blue Bossa\, a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize\, and Secret Love\, a New York Times Notable Book of the Year. Bart presented his novel Giacometti’s Last Ride at OHCA in 2026 with artist Chester Arnold. Schneider is also the author of three volumes of poetry and the publisher of Kelly’s Cove Press.  \nVisit: https://www.kellyscovepress.com/bart-schneider/
