SUMMARY:50th anniversary Running Fence special installation
DESCRIPTION:In Celebration of the 50th anniversary of Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s Running Fence\, Mill Valley artist Douglas Sandberg will showcase a portion of the original fence on the OHCA property. On display in the Loft will be a few examples of photographs he has taken of five Christo and Jeanne-Claude projects. Books and ephemera for those and other projects will be on view. Douglas will also carry with him the original RUNNING FENCE Environmental Impact Report for visitors to examine. The Mayles Brothers documentary film will run on the O’ Hanlon video display screen in the gallery from 3:00 – 4:00 pm where the current small sculpture show is on view. Please RSVP below as space is limited. \nPoster design by Laura Jiménez-Diecks \nDouglas Sandberg

Rather than focusing on formal principles or strict rules\, these workshops emphasize curiosity\, exploration\, and creative play. They spark imagination by encouraging learning through doing\, observation\, acceptance\, and practice. Participants are supported in taking risks\, experimenting freely\, and developing their own visual language in an open\, encouraging environment. \nEach session begins with a simple prompt or exercise. From there\, participants may build on their initial ideas or take them in entirely new directions. DESCRIPTION:Set aside your inhibitions and learn to draw!\n6 Wednesdays: September 30 – November 4\n10:00 am to 1:00 pm \n$240 | $190 for OHCA Members \nWorkshop size: minimum 3\, maximum 6 (adults) \nMaterials Fee:$20 paid to Facilitator 1st day of class \nDrawing is fundamental to any form of visual art and can be the most easily accessible form of individual expression. It is as unique to each artist as a person’s handwriting. \nThis workshop is designed as a welcoming introduction to drawing for adults who are curious about learning a new skill in a fun\, supportive\, and non-judgmental environment. Participants will explore and play with a range of materials while also learning the fundamentals of line\, form\, and composition. Along the way\, they will engage in both intuitive and observational approaches to drawing\, expanding their visual vocabulary while learning to see and interpret the world around them with greater attention and confidence. \nSet aside your inhibitions and learn to draw! Bring your open and curious mind\, a sketchbook (minimum 11” x 14”)\, and your favorite writing tool. All other materialswill be provided. Drawing has been central to her creative life since childhood and remains a foundation of her studio practice\, where she combines observation\, intuition\, expressive mark-making\, and a strong sense of color and composition.\n \nNaomi holds a degree in Studio Art from Scripps College and also studied graphic design and art direction at ArtCenter College of Design. Following a 20-year career as a graphic designer and art director\, she returned more fully to fine art in 2011. Her work is informed by the Bay Area Figurative Movement\, Impressionism\, Post-Impressionism\, and Abstract Expressionism.\n \nAs a workshop facilitator\, Naomi encourages participants to approach drawing with curiosity\, openness\, and confidence. She welcomes artists at all levels and emphasizes experimentation\, personal expression\, and the pleasure of looking closely.

It breeds excitement and enjoyment of the process. \nI like the mix of people and their art. \nIt is free and fun. \nI like that I can get into the flow of art and forget the stressful world. \nI look forward to stepping into another time and place. It is a magical experience to visit this special piece of land at the foot of Mt Tam. \nBeing with people who care about art and artists is something I find worthwhile.
