SUMMARY:Tuesday Perception Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Perception Workshops Description \nThe Perception Workshops at O’Hanlon welcome all artists and the art-curious. Rather than focusing on formal principles or strict rules\, these workshops emphasize curiosity\, exploration\, and creative play. They spark imagination by encouraging learning through doing\, observation\, acceptance\, and practice. Participants are supported in taking risks\, experimenting freely\, and developing their own visual language in an open\, encouraging environment. \nEach session begins with a simple prompt or exercise. From there\, participants may build on their initial ideas or take them in entirely new directions. At the end\, the group comes together to share discoveries through looking\, reflection\, and discussion\, celebrating the process as much as the result. \nMost materials are provided\, but participants are welcome to bring their own. \nCost: \n\n$30.00 Non-members\n$25.00 Members or Members can purchase a 10x card for $200\n$5.00 Materials fee\n\nPlease contact the office to purchase.

SUMMARY:Based on a True Story: Developing Memories into Literature - with Bart Schneider
DESCRIPTION:Based on a True Story: Developing Memories Into Literaturewith Bart Schneider\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Bringing the tools of poetry and fiction to memoir. \nMany folks are drawn to the idea of writing a memoir but find the notion of composing a book-length account daunting. This class will encourage writing from personal experience in a variety of forms and lengths\, will introduce a range of narrative approaches\, and explore methods for developing a germ of memory into a substantial form. We will also consider the ethical concerns of taking liberty with “the facts” to enhance the story\, (or how much poetic license will the puritanical worm in your brain allow?) The instructor will introduce literary examples and offer prompts for in-class writing. Participants will be invited to share their in-class writing as well as their writing from home. \nIn addition to writing implements please bring memories and stories to the gathering. \n4 Wednesdays in May – 11 am to 1 pm \n$140\, $115 OHCA Members \nMax 8 participants \nPlease register here \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About Bart: \nBart Schneider is the author of six novels\, including Blue Bossa\, a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize\, and Secret Love\, a New York Times Notable Book of the Year. Bart presented his novel Giacometti’s Last Ride at OHCA in 2026 with artist Chester Arnold. Schneider is also the author of three volumes of poetry and the publisher of Kelly’s Cove Press.  \nVisit: https://www.kellyscovepress.com/bart-schneider/

SUMMARY:Saturday Perception
DESCRIPTION:One of the core principles Ann O’Hanlon stressed was learning how to seeFor over 35 years – Saturdays have been a time to put that into practice. To experiment and discover.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Thank you to Ann Fricker and Noni Garner for organizing the return to the LOFT Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm. \nThe morning starts with a simple exercise or prompt that informs the day. \n$30 for non-members and $25 for members. \nMaterials provided or bring your own. \n  \nAttendees must be fully vaccinated and Masks required indoors \nWorkshop will be held in the LOFT \nBeginners Expected! \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n LOVING THE SATURDAY WORKSHOP\nThe long-running Visual Perception Workshop is at the heart of O’Hanlon Center. Recently we asked workshop participants for their thoughts. \nI love doing art with friends…and then sharing it! \nI love that it is a drop-in class andI don’t have to sign up ahead of time. \nI like that I don’t have to know how to do art…It’s about our own creativity. \nIt is so much fun. \nI love the creative atmosphere. It breeds excitement and enjoyment of the process. \nI like the mix of people and their art. \nIt is free and fun. \nI like that I can get into the flow of art and forget the stressful world. \nI look forward to stepping into another time and place. It is a magical experience to visit this special piece of land at the foot of Mt Tam. \nBeing with people who care about art and artists is something I find worthwhile. I feel lucky to have discovered this class. It informs me well beyond 4 hours on Saturday. \nThis Saturday workshop serves as a tool to open up all of my senses and I  come alive. \nThe setting is gorgeous and serene. \nI love Saturday class. I wouldn’t think of missing it. I come every Saturday\, and have for years and years. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Printing with the Press with Jackie La Lanne and Candis Cousins\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n $25.00 – $30.00Price range: $25.00 through $30.00 \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n	\n \n \n \n Member/Non-Member\n \n Choose an optionNon-memberOHCA MemberClear \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n	\n Saturday Perception Workshop | 2026 quantity\n	\n	\n\n	Add to cart
