He was so smitten by its beauty\, he vowed to himself that one day he would learn to make it. \nTwenty-nine  years later he fulfilled that vow by learning from world-renowned marbler\, Pamela Smith in Abiquiu\, New Mexico. He has been marbling ever since in the marbling studio he built in his garage. \nHe loves to introduce this amazing and addictive art process to others. He covers datebooks\, journals\, blank books and the like with his marbled paper. \nHampton grew up in the Southern United States\, studied engineering in college\, moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1988 and has just retired from being a Presbyterian minister for the past 35+ years. He is married and has 4 grown children. He loves to tell stories\, practice spirituality\, backpack in Yosemite in the summer\, ride his bike and marble paper!

SUMMARY:Creative Botanical Watercolor with Sharon Virtue
DESCRIPTION:Sharon’s Creative workshops explore an expressive style of painting with Watercolor that is both realistic and abstract. We will learn the artist’s tips and tricks\, and ways to stay creatively motivated. The goal is to create beautiful botanical compositions that have your unique style at their heart. \nThe focus will be on capturing the gesture and atmosphere of what we are seeing. \nWe will review color theory\, how to mix paints\,  the nature of the materials\, and how they impact the final results. \nThe goal is to enjoy relaxing into the process of creativity in this natural setting. \nStarting with ways to sketch and draw plain air we will move on to building our compositions in layers of color and form in the studio.  We will work on watercolor paper. This workshop is open to all levels and those who want to learn new techniques in expressive painting. \nThe beauty and peace of O’Hanlon gardens\, and the fantastic studio space bathed in light make this workshop an excellent place to gather in a creative\, mindful\, community activity. \n  \nThursday\, August 22 from 10 am to 1 pm$100 or $80 OHCA memberPlus\, $15 for materials paid to the instructor day of class or bring your own.  (No acrylics) \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Sharon Virtue is a painter and ceramic artist based in Fairfax\, California. \nShe believes artists are agents of transformation.
