SUMMARY:Monoprinting w/ CANDIS COUSINS
DESCRIPTION:WE ARE NOW OFFERING THIS WORKSHOP TWICE A MONTH \nMonoprinting is a playful\, exploratory process requiring neither a press nor a background in art\n \nOn a plate of gel or plexiglass\, images are made with paint\, rollers\, sponges\, netting\, leaves or anything else which might create an interesting pattern. The focus is not upon the finished work but upon the experience of discovery and making art. \nIn the workshop\, after two or three hours\, the group gathers to discuss what has been created.  The purpose of the discussion is to help each person recognize the beauty in their work. Or\, in the words of Ann O’Hanlon\, our purpose is “to look upon a seemingly random work of our own with interest” and with “the same fulfillment… experienced on an unknown wilderness trail.” \nSundays\, 10 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.\n$55\, $44 OHCA members\, \n$10 materials fee paid to instructor at day of class \n8 people MAX (online registration closes at 3:00pm the prior Friday)\nParticipants must be fully vaccinated and wear masks. \nART DETAIL: JANET GREENWOOD \n  \n\n  \n \nAbout Candis Cousins \nCandis Cousins first came to the Center in 1972. Ann O’Hanlon was alive and at that time the Center was called ‘Sight and Insight.’ On Candis’ first day\, Ann’s suggestion for working was this: “Every decision you make\, try to make the wrong decision.” \nIn 2002\, Candis returned to OHCA to join the mono printing group led by Cayen Robertson and Karen Cox. In her own work\, Candis tries to keep moving forward without a plan\, just to see what comes. \n“It is such an invigorating\, soul-finding experience to facilitate this workshop. A love-fest\, a laugh-fest on the high seas of creativity!”\n– Candis\n  \n\n

It breeds excitement and enjoyment of the process. \nI like the mix of people and their art. \nIt is free and fun. \nI like that I can get into the flow of art and forget the stressful world. \nI look forward to stepping into another time and place. It is a magical experience to visit this special piece of land at the foot of Mt Tam. \nBeing with people who care about art and artists is something I find worthwhile. I feel lucky to have discovered this class. It informs me well beyond 4 hours on Saturday. \nThis Saturday workshop serves as a tool to open up all of my senses and I  come alive. \nThe setting is gorgeous and serene. \nI love Saturday class. I wouldn’t think of missing it. I come every Saturday\, and have for years and years.

SUMMARY:Collaborative Painting Workshop w/ HELEN COHEN and DIANE GOLDSTEIN (POSTPONED)
DESCRIPTION:This Workshop has been POSTPONED until Fall 2023. Date TBD.\nLet your free spirit leap out and play!\n  \n$125 or $100 for OHCA Members \n \nEach participant must have a partner for this workshop.  Each person registers separately. Max 10 people. \n \nFirst of all\, abstract collaborative painting is really fun!  Participants will be trying something different such as: letting go of outcome and working on large canvas/paper spontaneously with a partner of your choice. Let your free spirit leap out and play! \nCollaboration can bring a new and powerful experience to your art process: unexpected things emerge through an exchange of ideas and listening/responding to the painting together with your partner. It will require mutual respect\, mutual effort and letting go of ego. \nParticipants will need to have a prearranged partner to register for the workshop\, but register separately. \nThere will be demonstrations and tips for getting loose and working together through out the process. \nDuring the last hour of the workshop\, participants will have time to share their process and their paintings with the group. \n  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Suggested Supplies to bring:\nMixed Media: water soluble paint\, markers\, crayons\, graphite\, collage and whatever materials you and your partner want to incorporate. (No oil)  Bring a variety of brushes or other instruments for making marks.  Bring palette paper or paper plates\, water containers and acrylic or water color paint. You may want to use a variety of brush sizes to work spontaneously. Water soluble house paint can be fun. \nPlease bring one or two large canvases or paper: we suggest a minimum 48 x 48\, but encourage 48 x 60 so there will be ample room to work with your partner simultaneously. Or if you wish\, O’Hanlon has large rolled paper that you can use.  Depending on the timing\, you may want to make more than one large piece. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n ABOUT THE FACILITATORS\nHelen and Diane are both mixed media artists who live and work in San Francisco. They have been sharing a studio at Yosemite Place in the Bayview district for over ten years. \nHelen S.

\nART DETAIL: JANET GREENWOOD \n  \n\n  \n \n\n  \nAbout Candis Cousins \nCandis Cousins first came to the Center in 1972. \n  \n\n
