SUMMARY:Felted Hats and Vessels w/ BONNIE HIMBERG
DESCRIPTION:  \nWe will be creating Hats and Vessels with felt and other materials \n$55\, $44 OHCA members\nMaterial included  \nYou will be learning the wet felt technique. Using resists to create several layers. \nBring a lunch or snack for a short break.\nAlso please bring 2 towels and a squirtable water bottle. \nLooking forward to see those of you interested. Hasta Pronto. Bonnie \n  \n\n  \nAbout Bonnie:\nFun\, fabric\, fiber and function have been the core of my artistic journey since I was a child. Raised in Mexico\, my first large installation as a teenager was a set of yarn headboards inspired by the Cora Indian technique of yarn appliqué. I spent my summers as an apprentice to a batik artist in Mexico City. \nTravels and an M.A. in textiles led me to an exciting teaching career at Fort Mason Art Center in San Francisco; art exhibitions\, awards and many trade shows such as the American Craft Council and Rosen throughout the country established my Bonika butlers and benches as a well-known whimsical and functional art form.” \nhttps://www.mounttamartists.org/projects/bonnie-himberg/ \n  \n\n  \n

SUMMARY:Saturday Perception Workshop
DESCRIPTION:One of the core principles Ann O’Hanlon stressed was learning how to seeFor over 35 years – Saturdays have been a time to put that into practice. To experiment and discover.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Thank you to Ann Fricker and Noni Garner for organizing the return to the LOFT Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm. \nThe morning starts with a simple exercise or prompt that informs the day. \n$25 non-members | $20 OHCA members. \nMaterials provided or bring your own. \n  \nAttendees must be fully vaccinated and Masks required indoors \nWorkshop will be held in the LOFT \nBeginners Expected! \n \n \n \n \n \n LOVING THE SATURDAY WORKSHOP\nThe long-running Visual Perception Workshop is at the heart of O’Hanlon Center. Recently we asked workshop participants for their thoughts. \nI love doing art with friends…and then sharing it! \nI love that it is a drop-in class andI don’t have to sign up ahead of time. \nI like that I don’t have to know how to do art…It’s about our own creativity. \nIt is so much fun. \nI love the creative atmosphere. It breeds excitement and enjoyment of the process. \nI like the mix of people and their art. \nIt is free and fun. \nI like that I can get into the flow of art and forget the stressful world. \nI look forward to stepping into another time and place. It is a magical experience to visit this special piece of land at the foot of Mt Tam. \nBeing with people who care about art and artists is something I find worthwhile. I feel lucky to have discovered this class. It informs me well beyond 4 hours on Saturday. \nThis Saturday workshop serves as a tool to open up all of my senses and I  come alive. \nThe setting is gorgeous and serene. \nI love Saturday class. I wouldn’t think of missing it. I come every Saturday\, and have for years and years. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n \n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n AGING GRACEFULLY—For Writers\, Poets and Visual Artists. SUMMARY:Canceled Monoprinting – with Candis Cousins 12/15/24
DESCRIPTION:WE ARE OFFERING THIS WORKSHOP TWICE A MONTH \nNO MONOPRINT IN DECEMBER 2024 \nMonoprinting is a playful\, exploratory process requiring neither a press nor a background in art\n \nOn a plate of gel or plexiglass\, images are made with paint\, rollers\, sponges\, netting\, leaves or anything else which might create an interesting pattern. The focus is not upon the finished work but upon the experience of discovery and making art. \nIn the workshop\, after two or three hours\, the group gathers to discuss what has been created.  The purpose of the discussion is to help each person recognize the beauty in their work. Or\, in the words of Ann O’Hanlon\, our purpose is “to look upon a seemingly random work of our own with interest” and with “the same fulfillment… experienced on an unknown wilderness trail.” \nSundays\, 10 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.\n$55 | $44 OHCA members + \n$10 materials fee paid to facilitator on day of workshop \n7 people MAX\n \nART DETAIL: JANET GREENWOOD\n \n\nAbout Candis Cousins \nCandis Cousins first came to the Center in 1972. Ann O’Hanlon was alive and at that time the Center was called ‘Sight and Insight.’ On Candis’ first day\, Ann’s suggestion for working was this: “Every decision you make\, try to make the wrong decision.” \nIn 2002\, Candis returned to OHCA to join the mono printing group led by Cayen Robertson and Karen Cox. In her own work\, Candis tries to keep moving forward without a plan\, just to see what comes. \n  \n“It is such an invigorating\, soul-finding experience to facilitate this workshop. A love-fest\, a laugh-fest on the high seas of creativity!” \n– Candis \n

SUMMARY:JUST WRITE Drop-In with Jill Morris
DESCRIPTION:Jill Morris will host a ‘just write’ drop-in weekly. The drop-in will consist of independent silent writing with a well-earned coffee/tea break. We all know that the greatest challenge to completing a memoir is the ability to sit down and just write\, the same way we brush our teeth daily. \n‘Just Write’ drop-ins offer the crucial components to achieve completion: support and accountability\, where you can set a page limit for yourself weekly. \nSome of you may be new to writing\, others may be more experienced. What you’ll have in common is the desire to write your life story and offer one another a supportive writing community. \nJUST WRITE Drop-In with Jill Morris \nFridays Feb 7- March 14 from 2:30 – 4:30 pm\n$20 or $15 members.\nDrop in.\nYou may prepay below for one or more drop-in sessions. \n  \nFor more info about Jill Morris\, visit her website: yourlifeyourwords.com\n\n\n\n
