SUMMARY:Monoprinting
DESCRIPTION:WE ARE OFFERING THIS WORKSHOP TWICE A MONTH \nMonoprinting is a playful\, exploratory process requiring neither a press nor a background in art \nOn a plate of gel or plexiglass\, images are made with paint\, rollers\, sponges\, netting\, leaves or anything else which might create an interesting pattern. The focus is not upon the finished work but upon the experience of discovery and making art. \nIn the workshop\, after two or three hours\, the group gathers to discuss what has been created.  The purpose of the discussion is to help each person recognize the beauty in their work. Or\, in the words of Ann O’Hanlon\, our purpose is “to look upon a seemingly random work of our own with interest” and with “the same fulfillment… experienced on an unknown wilderness trail.” \nFirst and Third Sundays\, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM\n$60 | $50 OHCA members + $10 materials fee paid to facilitator on day of workshop \n6 people MAX \nART DETAIL: JANET GREENWOOD\n \n\nAbout Candis Cousins \nCandis Cousins first came to the Center in 1972. Ann O’Hanlon was alive and at that time the Center was called ‘Sight and Insight.’ On Candis’ first day\, Ann’s suggestion for working was this: “Every decision you make\, try to make the wrong decision.” \nIn 2002\, Candis returned to OHCA to join the mono printing group led by Cayen Robertson and Karen Cox. In her own work\, Candis tries to keep moving forward without a plan\, just to see what comes. \n  \n“It is such an invigorating\, soul-finding experience to facilitate this workshop. DESCRIPTION:Perception Workshops Description\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				The Perception Workshops at O’Hanlon welcome all artists and the art-curious. Rather than focusing on formal principles or strict rules\, these workshops emphasize curiosity\, exploration\, and creative play. They spark imagination by encouraging learning through doing\, observation\, acceptance\, and practice. Participants are supported in taking risks\, experimenting freely\, and developing their own visual language in an open\, encouraging environment. \nEach session begins with a simple prompt or exercise. From there\, participants may build on their initial ideas or take them in entirely new directions. DESCRIPTION:Set aside your inhibitions and learn to draw!\n6 Wednesdays: September 30 – November 4\n10:00 am to 1:00 pm \n$240 | $190 for OHCA Members \nWorkshop size: minimum 3\, maximum 6 (adults) \nMaterials Fee:$20 paid to Facilitator 1st day of class \nDrawing is fundamental to any form of visual art and can be the most easily accessible form of individual expression. It is as unique to each artist as a person’s handwriting. \nThis workshop is designed as a welcoming introduction to drawing for adults who are curious about learning a new skill in a fun\, supportive\, and non-judgmental environment. Participants will explore and play with a range of materials while also learning the fundamentals of line\, form\, and composition. Along the way\, they will engage in both intuitive and observational approaches to drawing\, expanding their visual vocabulary while learning to see and interpret the world around them with greater attention and confidence. \nSet aside your inhibitions and learn to draw! Bring your open and curious mind\, a sketchbook (minimum 11” x 14”)\, and your favorite writing tool. All other materialswill be provided. After graduating from Scripps College with a Studio Arts Degree\, Naomi worked professionally as a graphic designer /art director in both print and online. \nNaomi is a practicing artist and philanthropist. She is involved in various creative and community endeavors\, most notably serving as a former board chair of O’Hanlon Center for the Arts\, and currently serving as the longest-serving board chair at Youth in Arts in San Rafael. \nAfter raising her family and retiring from commercial work\, she refocused her energies on her many creative pursuits\, including sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm for the creative process with others.\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				TICKETS cover all dates in the Series\nPlease register here on the 1st week listing
