DESCRIPTION:Light\, tone\, line\, pattern\, mass\, perspective\, abstraction and composition\nMondays: 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. \n5 weeks: Fall 2024 (Series 4): \nSept 9\, 16\, 23\, 30 + Oct 7 \nIn this series we will use a range of drawing materials. Each class will start with a warmup\, and then focus on translating three dimensional objects to a two-dimensional surface\, focusing on light\, tone\, line\, pattern\, mass\, perspective\, abstraction and composition. \nMaximum 8 students \nA materials list will be emailed after registration \n$200 or $160 for OHCA members (5 week series) \n  \n\n \nABOUT LAUREL \nLaurel Shear lives and works in the California Bay Area. She opened her first New York solo show\, Daydreaming In My Nightmare\, at Fort Gansevoort in March 2018. Recent exhibitions include Right Here Right Now\, Richmond Art Center and NIAD (Richmond\, CA) My Silences Had Not Protected Me\, For Freedoms\, Fort Gansevoort\, (New York)\, Where Dreams Come True\, TSA LA (Los Angeles)\, Push\, Incline Gallery (San Francisco). She is a former member of the artist run gallery Tiger Strikes Asteroid in Los Angeles. Press for her work includes Artnet\, New York Magazine\, Brooklyn Magazine\, and Luxe Magazine\, among others. She facilitates drawing and painting workshops at O’Hanlon Center for the Arts and serves on the Board. It is as unique to each artist as a person’s handwriting. \nSet aside your inhibitions and learn to draw! In this beginner class\, we will learn the basics of drawing using a variety of materials\, techniques\, and methods. \nBring your open and curious mind\, a sketchbook (minimum 9” x 12”)\, and your favorite writing tool. After graduating from Scripps College with a Studio Arts Degree\, Naomi worked professionally as a graphic designer /art director in both print and online. \nNaomi is a practicing artist and philanthropist. She is involved in various creative and community endeavors\, most notably serving as a former board chair of O’Hanlon Center for the Arts\, and currently serving as the longest-serving board chair at Youth in Arts in San Rafael. \nAfter raising her family and retiring from commercial work\, she refocused her energies on her many creative pursuits\, including sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm for the creative process with others.\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				TICKETS cover all dates in the Series

To experiment and discover.\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Thank you to Ann Fricker and Noni Garner for organizing the return to the LOFT Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm. \nThe morning starts with a simple exercise or prompt that informs the day. \n$25 non-members | $20 OHCA members.  \nMaterials provided or bring your own. \n  \nAttendees must be fully vaccinated and Masks required indoors \nWorkshop will be held in the LOFT \nBeginners Expected! \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				LOVING THE SATURDAY WORKSHOP\nThe long-running Visual Perception Workshop is at the heart of O’Hanlon Center. Recently we asked workshop participants for their thoughts. \nI love doing art with friends…and then sharing it! \nI love that it is a drop-in class andI don’t have to sign up ahead of time. \nI like that I don’t have to know how to do art…It’s about our own creativity. \nIt is so much fun. \nI love the creative atmosphere. It breeds excitement and enjoyment of the process. \nI like the mix of people and their art. \nIt is free and fun. \nI like that I can get into the flow of art and forget the stressful world. \nI look forward to stepping into another time and place. It is a magical experience to visit this special piece of land at the foot of Mt Tam. \nBeing with people who care about art and artists is something I find worthwhile. I feel lucky to have discovered this class. It informs me well beyond 4 hours on Saturday. \nThis Saturday workshop serves as a tool to open up all of my senses and I  come alive. \nThe setting is gorgeous and serene. \nI love Saturday class.
