SUMMARY:Giacometti's Last Ride - Book event with novelist Bart Schneider and artist Chester Arnold
DESCRIPTION:Novelist Bart Schneider will present his new book Giacometti’s Last Ride\, with artist/collaborator Chester Arnold\, in an hour of readings and images from the novel\, followed by time for a Q&A. This is the second collaboration for Schneider and Arnold\, following their 2022 book of poetry and paintings about food\, The Daily Feast. The two longtime friends get together regularly to discuss the corollaries between art and writing. They are now plotting their next collaboration. Books will be on sale at the event. \nBart Schneider is the author of six novels\, including Blue Bossa\, a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize\, and Secret Love\, a New York Times Notable Book of the Year. Schneider is also the author of three volumes of poetry and the publisher of Kelly’s Cove Press.  \nFind out more about Chester Arnold HERE

SUMMARY:Saturday Perception
DESCRIPTION:One of the core principles Ann O’Hanlon stressed was learning how to seeFor over 35 years – Saturdays have been a time to put that into practice. To experiment and discover.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Thank you to Ann Fricker and Noni Garner for organizing the return to the LOFT Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm. \nThe morning starts with a simple exercise or prompt that informs the day. \n$30 for non-members and $25 for members. \nMaterials provided or bring your own. \n  \nAttendees must be fully vaccinated and Masks required indoors \nWorkshop will be held in the LOFT \nBeginners Expected! \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n LOVING THE SATURDAY WORKSHOP\nThe long-running Visual Perception Workshop is at the heart of O’Hanlon Center. Recently we asked workshop participants for their thoughts. \nI love doing art with friends…and then sharing it! \nI love that it is a drop-in class andI don’t have to sign up ahead of time. \nI like that I don’t have to know how to do art…It’s about our own creativity. \nIt is so much fun. \nI love the creative atmosphere. It breeds excitement and enjoyment of the process. \nI like the mix of people and their art. \nIt is free and fun. \nI like that I can get into the flow of art and forget the stressful world. \nI look forward to stepping into another time and place. It is a magical experience to visit this special piece of land at the foot of Mt Tam. \nBeing with people who care about art and artists is something I find worthwhile. I feel lucky to have discovered this class. It informs me well beyond 4 hours on Saturday. \nThis Saturday workshop serves as a tool to open up all of my senses and I  come alive. \nThe setting is gorgeous and serene. \nI love Saturday class. I wouldn’t think of missing it. I come every Saturday\, and have for years and years. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Surprise Yourself – Creation and Perception w/ CANDIS & CAYEN\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n $25.00 – $30.00Price range: $25.00 through $30.00 \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n	\n \n \n \n Member/Non-Member\n \n Choose an optionNon-memberOHCA MemberClear \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n	\n Saturday Perception Workshop | 2026 quantity\n	\n	\n\n	Add to cart

She is currently Board President of of O’Hanlon. She graduated from Sonoma State University with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Studio Art and a Masters Degree in Art Education. She loves teaching art and making photographs\, which she says have a lot in common: discovering\, making\, envisioning\, sharing\, and having fun. La Lanne\, who can often be found in the artroom wearing the earrings she made from her old bike lock keys\, has been teaching elementary art curriculum in Mill Valley public schools for many years. She is an accomplished artist\, teacher\, and photographer and has created wonderful collaborative textile projects for her five grandchildren. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Naomi Tamura is a visual artist based in Mill Valley\, California\, working in acrylic paint\, drawing media\, and photography. Her work blends representation with intuition\, exploring themes of memory\, emotion\, and atmosphere through expressive mark-making and the lens of a camera. A lifelong artist\, Tamura studied Studio Art at Scripps College and graphic design at ArtCenter College of Design\, leading to a 20-year career as a designer and art director. After stepping away from commercial work in 2011\, she returned to fine art with a renewed focus. Tamura’s creative practice reflects a range of influences—from the Bay Area Figurative Movement to Post-Impressionism and Abstract Expressionism. She has exhibited at the O’Hanlon Center for the Arts\, where she served as a former board chair\, and remains active in the local arts community. Photography plays a vital role in her process\, serving as both inspiration and a form of artistic expression.

DESCRIPTION:Rhythm Collage Workshop Facilitated by Barbara Carbone\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Thursday\, February 26 | 1:00 – 3:00 pm\nThere is an extraordinary choreography between the music we hear and the art we make. \nBoth art forms bring us together in new ways—whether we are listening to a trumpet player in a city park or sitting in a studio\, feeling the memory and inspiration of sound. In this workshop\, we don’t just listen to music; we use it as a blueprint for creation. \nWe will begin with the improvisational pulse of jazz\, using its unique rhythm to guide the way we tear\, layer\, and compose. Music will influence the “vibe” of your art. \nJoin us for this incredible\, multi-layered experience. Drink teas\, eat pastries and discover the rhythm of your own creative style and self. \nCost: $60\, $48 OHCA Members (plus $15 for material fee) \nMax: 10  \nMaterials: \n\nwatercolors\nsumi ink\npaper\ncanvas \nbrushes \nflowers \nsnacks  \n\n  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About our Facilitator \nBarbara Carbone is an artist and educator whose work explores the intersections of form\, color\, and emotion.
