SUMMARY:Saturday Perception
DESCRIPTION:One of the core principles Ann O’Hanlon stressed was learning how to seeFor over 35 years – Saturdays have been a time to put that into practice. To experiment and discover.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Thank you to Ann Fricker and Noni Garner for organizing the return to the LOFT Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm. \nThe morning starts with a simple exercise or prompt that informs the day. \n$30 for non-members and $25 for members. \nMaterials provided or bring your own. \n  \nAttendees must be fully vaccinated and Masks required indoors \nWorkshop will be held in the LOFT \nBeginners Expected! \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n LOVING THE SATURDAY WORKSHOP\nThe long-running Visual Perception Workshop is at the heart of O’Hanlon Center. Recently we asked workshop participants for their thoughts. \nI love doing art with friends…and then sharing it! \nI love that it is a drop-in class andI don’t have to sign up ahead of time. \nI like that I don’t have to know how to do art…It’s about our own creativity. \nIt is so much fun. \nI love the creative atmosphere. It breeds excitement and enjoyment of the process. \nI like the mix of people and their art. \nIt is free and fun. \nI like that I can get into the flow of art and forget the stressful world. \nI look forward to stepping into another time and place. It is a magical experience to visit this special piece of land at the foot of Mt Tam. \nBeing with people who care about art and artists is something I find worthwhile. I feel lucky to have discovered this class. It informs me well beyond 4 hours on Saturday. \nThis Saturday workshop serves as a tool to open up all of my senses and I  come alive. \nThe setting is gorgeous and serene. \nI love Saturday class. I wouldn’t think of missing it. I come every Saturday\, and have for years and years. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Printing with the Press with Jackie La Lanne and Candis Cousins\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n $25.00 – $30.00Price range: $25.00 through $30.00 \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n	\n \n \n \n Member/Non-Member\n \n Choose an optionNon-memberOHCA MemberClear \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n	\n Saturday Perception Workshop | 2026 quantity\n	\n	\n\n	Add to cart

SUMMARY:Monoprint - April 19
DESCRIPTION:WE ARE OFFERING THIS WORKSHOP TWICE A MONTH \nMonoprinting is a playful\, exploratory process requiring neither a press nor a background in art\n \nOn a plate of gel or plexiglass\, images are made with paint\, rollers\, sponges\, netting\, leaves or anything else which might create an interesting pattern. The focus is not upon the finished work but upon the experience of discovery and making art. \nIn the workshop\, after two or three hours\, the group gathers to discuss what has been created.  The purpose of the discussion is to help each person recognize the beauty in their work. Or\, in the words of Ann O’Hanlon\, our purpose is “to look upon a seemingly random work of our own with interest” and with “the same fulfillment… experienced on an unknown wilderness trail.” \nFirst and Third Sundays\, 10 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.\n$60 | $50 OHCA members + \n$10 materials fee paid to facilitator on day of workshop \n6 people MAX\n \nART DETAIL: JANET GREENWOOD\n \n\nAbout Candis Cousins \nCandis Cousins first came to the Center in 1972. Ann O’Hanlon was alive and at that time the Center was called ‘Sight and Insight.’ On Candis’ first day\, Ann’s suggestion for working was this: “Every decision you make\, try to make the wrong decision.” \nIn 2002\, Candis returned to OHCA to join the mono printing group led by Cayen Robertson and Karen Cox. In her own work\, Candis tries to keep moving forward without a plan\, just to see what comes. \n  \n“It is such an invigorating\, soul-finding experience to facilitate this workshop. A love-fest\, a laugh-fest on the high seas of creativity!” \n– Candis \n

SUMMARY:Photo Transfer Workshop - Margot Harford
DESCRIPTION:Photo Transfer WorkshopFacilitated by Margot Harford\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Saturday\, April 25 | 11 AM – 4 PM \nThis workshop introduces the technique of image transfers — a process that allows you to move your digital files (photographs\, graphics\, or text) onto a variety of surfaces\, in either color or black and white. \nUsing transfer film printed with an inkjet printer and a specially prepared paste\, you’ll learn how to transfer your images onto surfaces such as paper\, wood\, metal\, and fabric. \nPrior to the class\, you will send the instructor eight of your own photographs (iPhone images are perfectly fine). These will be printed and prepared in advance so you’re ready to begin working as soon as the workshop starts. \nDuring the session\, we’ll cover essential materials\, where to source them\, and how to use them effectively. While you will be transferring onto paper and wood in class\, we will also discuss additional surface possibilities so you can continue experimenting on your own. \nFee: $275 Non-Members | $220 OHCA MembersMaterials Fee: $25 (payable to instructor) \nMaximum: 10 participants \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About Margot Harford \nMargot’s work is a mixture of fine art photography\, photo transfers and collage. The constant thread in her work is the addition of images using the photographs she has taken. \nAs a freelance photographer Margot has been photographing people and interiors for over 20 years. Her commercial photography style has seeped into her choice of fine art photography subjects\, which include people and architecture. \nMargot’s is represented by the Portland Art Gallery in Portland\, Maine. \nVisit her page: https://www.margothartford.com \n

SUMMARY:Tuesday Perception Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Perception Workshops Description \nThe Perception Workshops at O’Hanlon welcome all artists and the art-curious. Rather than focusing on formal principles or strict rules\, these workshops emphasize curiosity\, exploration\, and creative play. They spark imagination by encouraging learning through doing\, observation\, acceptance\, and practice. Participants are supported in taking risks\, experimenting freely\, and developing their own visual language in an open\, encouraging environment. \nEach session begins with a simple prompt or exercise. From there\, participants may build on their initial ideas or take them in entirely new directions. At the end\, the group comes together to share discoveries through looking\, reflection\, and discussion\, celebrating the process as much as the result. \nMost materials are provided\, but participants are welcome to bring their own. \nCost: \n\n$30.00 Non-members\n$25.00 Members or Members can purchase a 10x card for $200\n$5.00 Materials fee\n\nPlease contact the office to purchase.

Both projects were juried into the annual O’Hanlon Fiber Arts Show: “Coral Reef”\, exhibited in 2024 and “Wild Garden”\, exhibited in 2025.In addition to crochet\, Sarah enjoys embroidering on paper and fabric\, as well as creating textile collages inspired by traditional quilting. Naomi likes to try all fiber arts\, but mainly crochets\, knits and sews\, when she’s not drawing or painting. Drawing on their distinct passions and skills\, Sarah and Naomi each bring a unique and inspiring stamp to their sewing and stitching projects.
