As a former nine-year member of both Turtle Island Quartet and bassist Stanley Clarke’s band\, Mads has spent most of his professional life touring internationally. Mads has been featured on NPR’s Morning Edition\, and his recordings have received rave reviews in DownBeat Magazine\, Strings Magazine\, Washington Post and San Francisco Chronicle. He has performed with Chick Corea\, Ramsey Lewis\, Kenny Barron\, Paquito D’Rivera\, and he is a member of Bob Weir & Wolf Bros\, appearing on three album releases from Red Rocks and Radio City Music Hall. This intimate configuration distills the collective’s expansive sound into a focused\, ethereal experience—lush\, rhythmic\, and deeply immersive. \nPiwai & Mystic Gong is an Afro-jazz fusion ensemble led by Zimbabwean vocalist\, mbira player\, and percussionist Piwai\, whose hypnotic sound has been described as spiritual nirvana.
