She also has published a hybrid collection of craft essays\, writing exercises\, and poems titled Library of Small Happiness and a recent chapbook titled Self Portrait as Vanishing Act\, a playful collection of self-portraits as non-human phenomena. Professor Emerita at U.T.-El Paso\, where she taught for 27 years. She also taught for over 40 years in the low-residency MFA program at Vermont College of the Fine Arts. Her awards include the Yale Series of Younger Poets Award\, the Iowa Poetry Prize\, two NEA fellowships\, and a New Mexico/Arizona Book Award for poetry. Albert is also the author of the memoir Beamish Boy\, which was named a “Best Book of 2012” by Kirkus Reviews. His latest nonfiction book\, Writing as a Path to Awakening: A Year to Becoming an Excellent Writer and Living an Awakened Life—based on his popular writing workshops by the same name—was published by Sounds True in 2017.
