Substance Into Color 2: Investigations w/ Kate Temple
September 8, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Investigations: Part II of Color into Substance will be beginning on September 8 for eight weeks from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
We will take an additional Tuesday trip to the Legion of Honor to look at Turner’s watercolors and drawings.
We will begin our work with energy and gesture drawings of the elemental forces at work in nature – working with what surrounds us outside as color and substance – tree, lichen, sky, stream, leaf, stone.
Our class will meet upstairs to introduce a beginning intention and will have the same spirit of openness and exploration as Part I, but we will be diving more deeply into Thoreau’s writings, and contemporary poetry in how to develop presence and an artistic readiness.
It will involve the same slow patient observation and reverence of phenomena with the emphasis on experiential learning not art production- although it will happen.
It will be a great time to do this work as the summer comes to an end and we kindle the fires for new directions.
8 Tuesdays, September 8 to October 27.
10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Eight-sessions: $375, $300 OHCA members, $10 materials fee.
Materials fee to be paid to the facilitator the day of your class.
