Monotypes Two Ways w/ Elaine Nehm
January 17, 2016 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
This is printmaking at its best with a fun spontaneous process. A monotype is a one only print. Both beginning and experienced artists can get caught by print magic where every print holds a surprise. Two printing processes will be offered in this workshop. Experimentation will be encouraged with both.
One is the Painterly print using an acrylic plate, water soluble printing inks, and the etching press. Use of the press, registration, multiple-drop, both direct and in-direct methods, are the techno info that will be offered.
The second option is printing with acrylics using a Gelli plate. This is a new high-tech printing plate. This process does not use an etching press.
Must RSVP by January 11. A suggested materials list will be sent upon registration.
Sunday, January 17 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
$40, $32 OHCA members. $8 materials fee. Beginners welcome.
Materials fee to be paid to the facilitator the day of your class.

Elaine Nehm studied with Japanese master printmaker painter, and sculptor, Shoichi Ida. She says, “During my adventure in printmaking I often find inspiration and support from the art masters. The following is a quote from Shoichi Ida, a teacher and mentor for me, ‘Art is not making a beautiful surface or drawing a realistic apple. Art is getting to an essence, reaching the senses.’”
