Introduction to Printmaking Magic w/ Elaine Nehm
February 5, 2016 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
With this fun, spontaneous printmaking process you will be introduced to the monotype and printing with the etching press. This is a one-of-a-kind method of making a print. Images are evoked from the materials and process, each holding a surprise for its maker. The focus of this workshop will be the painterly print using the stencil, and both additive and subtractive techniques. Water soluble inks will be used. Monotypes offer a great amount of artistic freedom. This is a refreshing and natural change of pace for the painter. Pre-registration is necessary to reserve your place in this limited space.

Elaine Nehm studied with Japanese master printmaker painter, and sculptor, Shoichi Ida. She says, “During my adventure in printmaking I often find inspiration and support from the art masters. The following is a quote from Shoichi Ida, a teacher and mentor for me, ‘Art is not making a beautiful surface or drawing a realistic apple. Art is getting to an essence, reaching the senses.’”
