This class will encourage students to use their own photography or found images to create mixed media works using a collage approach and paint. We will talk about ideas behind photography and paint and the power of each media. We will look at artists who use image and paint in their own work from the past and present. This class will focus on the unfolding of a series of artworks. One-on-one sessions will take place using break out rooms during the last half of classes 2-5 giving the students individual feedback on their project. During the last half of these classes, students who are not in breakout rooms will stay logged into zoom using the time to develop their artworks. During the last class, each student will present their mixed media works and talk about their own concepts and techniques in an open discussion format.
Facilitator will provide a materials list after registration for students to buy their own supplies. Some student may be buying additional supplies depending on the direction of their individual projects.

About Beth:
“Born out of a conversation in the fall of 2014 was my Youth Studio Program. A parent friend was looking for a serious but open style studio program for her 7 year old daughter. I happily volunteered to teach her daughter, who was also my daughter’s best friend, and my daughter Lanta in my garage based studio once a week. We, of course, wanted to be sure to include the whole gang, so before I knew it, my one weekly art class of six 2nd graders became two weekly sessions. I truly enjoyed those times and am excited to relaunch my studio program once again!”
