For the Love of Drawing
September 13, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Tuesday, repeating until September 27, 2016
A drop in workshop dedicated to deepening the drawing experience.
When you draw, you are touching the world in an original way. Awaken to the extraordinary and transient nature of form. Experience relaxed, alert, awareness and the pleasurable, almost mystical activation of the mind.
Drawing is a curious process, so intertwined with seeing that the two can hardly be separated. It is a mode of perception, and a shift in perception enables anyone to draw. We will be working with a method of drawing that enables you, by conscious volition, to make that shift. The visual, spatial, and relational will come forth and you will engage in seeing more deeply. We will explore personal tactile expression and its impact upon the intimate act of drawing as various modes of mark making and materials are introduced. We will become confidants of the natural world as we engage in the meditative act of drawing.
Beginners and non-beginners are welcome and individual attention will be given to all participants. Class size limited to 8 people.
Materials list: Drawing board, 2B and 6B pencils (2 of each), Vine charcoal, Pencil sharpener, Kneaded eraser and Staedtler Mars plastic eraser, Strathmore drawing paper / 14″x17″ pad (or larger if you prefer)

|“Carolyn’s drawing instruction has opened me to the subtleties of perception and a deeper sensitivity to the world around me. There is a zone, this right brained awareness that harbors such depth and beauty. Carolyn understands how to help you access this part of yourself as a person and an artist. Learning to draw and to see with sensitivity has enhance my work in other artistic mediums as well.” Joyce Feeney – Student and OHCA member
“Carolyn’s meditation and art class is a wonderful opportunity to practice the basics of drawing while learning the art of mindfulness. Carolyn curates a collection of short lessons and teaches you to slow down, study, and appreciate the beauty in the everyday while you bring those objects to life on paper. You will gain confidence not only in your artistic ability, but more importantly in your ability to be totally present in an active meditation. Carolyn is a phenomenal teacher, and you will be delighted to see that you will translate your learning from the course into your daily life.” – Lindsay Noren, student
